To all whose attention is drawn by this,
Hello, my name is Sean M. Collins, a goalie for many teams—specifically the goaltender for Sandwich High School, and currently a junior at this high school. I am also the varsity starter on a summer team I play for, currently the New England Future Stars “Sabercats” U18 Varsity team. I am a goalie who may lack the favor of size, but I make up for it tenfold with hard work alone. I am a grinder who prides himself on stamina, speed, relentless effort, determination, and dedication. These properties apply in the net, classroom, and anywhere else you may see me. I base my play style on many goalies; however, the three qualities I referred to above would most align with Jonathan Quick, as his speed and flexibility are a projection of how I want to be in the net. As for speed, Josi Saros with his the ability to play with a wide stance and keep explosive energy while keeping his whole skate on the ice. Finally, I like to base my style of relentless effort on Dominik Hasek with his continuous readiness for the next shot, the net shot, and so on. Rebounds are a big part of the game and cannot always be controlled to the corner, so one must be ready for the next shot.
It’s pretty hard for me to speak about what I do off the ice since it’s such a home to me. However, what I can say is this is what I do when Im not playing for a team of my own. I am a lifeguard part time during the school year and full time in the summer. Along with a flexible schedule panning around my hockey and training schedules. In the summer I’m working around forty hours but cross training and swimming on the job when no one is around, or working goalie mechanics with any free moment. Then I’m right back home coaching all ages for my club team The East Coast Thunder, which at my level is going national this year. on top of that I volunteer at least once a month as a coach at the assistant level for an all inclusive, all ages, disabled hockey team where any age with any challenge in life can come to play. The name of this team is The Great Blizz of Massachusetts.
When taking a look at a person who plays hockey versus someone who lives it, there is a big difference. Hockey isn´t just a sport to me; it´s my life, which is why I make it my goal to implement hockey into my daily life.
