Personal Statement

I am Chase McKenna.  I am a junior at Hingham High School in Hingham, Massachusetts, and will be graduating in the spring of 2023.  I am a highly motivated student-athlete, maintaining a 3.85 GPA and playing both Varsity hockey and lacrosse.

I am currently enrolled in Honors classes, plus AP Statistics.  At school, I am a co-founder of the Finance Club and a member of the Vietnam Veterans Society.  I also volunteer for Alma Cares, Inc., a non-profit named after Alma Wahlberg that provides meals to those in need in our area.

I have been playing hockey since I was 5 years old.  I played for many years with the Boston Jr. Eagles (coached by Kent Hughes and Ian Moran) and Boston Jr. Bruins (coached by Chris Masters).  I  am currently playing for the South Shore Kings U18 “split season” team coached by Kris Omicioli.  During the high school season, I play at Hingham High for Coach Tony Messina.  I was elected a Captain for Hingham High this coming season.

In addition to hockey, I have also been playing lacrosse since I was 5.  I play for the Kings Lacrosse 2023 Blue Team.  I also play Varsity lacrosse at Hingham High.

On the ice, I pride myself on being a complete, two-way defenseman, known for being a strong skater with a high hockey IQ.  I enjoy contributing points offensively and quarterbacking the power play.  I also love being relied upon by my coaches and team to shut down the other team's top players.

In my free time I enjoy spending time in the gym, hanging with my teammates, and working my part-time job bussing tables in a local restaurant.

My goal is to continue to work hard to improve both in the classroom and on the ice.  I am looking to attend a college or university that will challenge me both academically and athletically.  I plan to play hockey and study business/finance.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
