Personal Statement

My name is Ryan Spencer from Lunenburg, MA. I am a 1997 birth year goalie. I played my third season of Junior Hockey, 2015-2016, for the New Jersey Rockets in the Eastern Hockey League (EHL). 2015-2016 Season stat line: 10 games played, 2.97 GAA, .923 SVP(6th best SVP in EHL), 38.7 average shots per game. I am a leader, motivator and calming influence in the locker room and on the ice. I am a goalie who sees the ice very well and directs my teammates in the defensive zone. I am recognized by my coaches for my work ethic and for my high compete level. I believe that through hard work, dedication and commitment comes opportunity and the achievement of my goal to play professional hockey.I was protected by the Moncton Wildcats (QMJHL) and attended their camp as an undrafted free agent in August 2014. I chose to maintain my NCAA eligibility as one of my goals is to play D1 college hockey. I played hockey my freshman & sophomore years at St. Bernard Central Catholic High School. My junior year I billeted in Clifton Park, NY while playing my first season of Junior Hockey for the Adirondack Jr Wings. I played my second season of Junior Hockey, 2014-2015, for the Boston Junior Rangers in the Metropolitan Junior Hockey League (MJHL).  2014-2015 Season Highlights, Represented the MJHL in the Tier 3 Junior Nationals, Foster Cup Champions – 7 playoff wins, 1 OT loss with a .931 SVP and a 2.5 GAA on 290 shots – 36.3 shots per game. All Prospects Team Honor, All-Star Prospects Selection, Two 1st star of the week selections, three honorable mentions. Regular Season Stats – W-22, L-5, OTL-3, SOL-1; lowest GAA of 2.26; 3rd best SVP of .927; 2nd most minutes played; 2nd most games played. "Ryan once again was a key factor in our wins this weekend," said Junior Rangers Head Coach Rich DeCaprio. "Ryan has played in every game this year and has faced a lot of shots. He works so hard every week in practice and attending goalie skills twice a week with our goalie coach. I love the way this kid competes everyday." 9/28/2014 MJHL First Star of the Week: Boston Junior Rangers goaltender Ryan Spencer ('97 birth year Lunenberg, Mass.) picks up the first star this week after a pair of thirty-plus save performances in wins over the Northern Cyclones and the New England Wolves for his first two wins of the year. "Ryan is a good young goalie that has a lot of potential," said Junior Rangers Head Coach Rich DeCaprio. "He's mature emotionally for his age and has been able to make the big saves when needed. I think he could emerge as one of the top goalies in the MJHL."
