Personal Statement
Hockey is and always has been a big part of my life. From the first moment I picked up that stick, I fell in love with the game. My step-father played when he was young too, and he was the one who really got me into it. I started learn-to-skate at the age of 5, advanced quickly to Bruins Fundamentals, and then busted my butt for the years to come to get where I am today. After playing the game for all these years, I've learned a lot about myself; for example, I don't like to give up. No matter how much my team is winning or losing by, I still give it 110%. This same attitude applies to school, and everything else I take on. I like to set a goal for a certain grade-point to achieve, and if for any reason my grades ever drop below that I work really hard to bring them back up. I do this because I know that grades are a huge part of college acceptance, and that is my dream. Scholarship or not, I will work as hard as I can to be able to go to college and do what I love. Another thing about me is that I have a lot of passion for the game. From the moment I step onto the ice, until the moment I step off the only thing I'm worried about is the game. There are certain skills I have, and there are also certain weaknesses I have. For instance, I've been told I have a great shot, but also I was told (by the same coach) that I needed to work on my skating, so I continue to work on both, and I feel I've come along way since we had that talk. I continue to work on everything no matter if it's one of my strengths or weaknesses, because no matter what practice makes progress. I've had a big influence my whole life, my parents. They help me be the best I can be in school and sports. They have helped and supported me a lot to get to the point of where I am now, and I couldn't have done it without them. I'm very grateful for them.
