Personal Statement

I was born and raised in Naples Florida and am currently living in Spooner Wisconsin playing for the Wisconsin Lumberjacks in the SIJHL. A JR A Canadian Tier ll Hockey league. I am very fortunate to have parents that will support me in chasing my dream of playing college hockey someday.

At 6'3" and 220 pounds I consider myself a power forward with a very hard shot.

I have been fortunate to play for some good teams with great coaches at the AAA and AA levels in Florida and Michigan. I have also played for some not so good teams with minimal coaching that I found were great learning experiences in how to deal with adversity and be a good teammate in the hard times. I believe and have been told, that I am coachable. I am always willing to learn new ways to be a better player and person.

In my spare time I like to work out, ski, golf and fish.

Jack Carruthers #63 (F, R, 6’3″, 218, Provo Predators, 11/14/2006) – Big center who likes to play a physical game with and without the puck. He is at his best below the goal line and at the net front using his physical presence to out muscle guys for positioning and the puck. His 50/50 puck battles are intense and he brings a factor that he wants to win every single one. He surprised off rushes given his size but he is not afraid to cut to the middle opening up the ice and space for his teammates. He attacks the middle with speed as well. Grade: A-

USHL Combine Scouting Report by Neutral Zone: Jack Carruthers #9 (F, R, 6’2″, 212, Belle Tire U15, 11/14/2006) -Jack looked like a power forward with some real skill up ice. He was strong on pucks and hard in the corners. He used a north/south style to drive the net and let his skill take over when needed. He was low risk/high reward. He looked like one of the tallest and thickest players here. He had an edge on opponents in any sort of puck battle and he won most. He moved well up ice but needed some time to get going. He shot hard, low bullets on net and in stride and was more elusive the more we watched. His first step should be a focus in the offseason. He worked hard on the forecheck and pinned opponents while he waited for his F2. He worked the cycle and attacked the net from the corners. He made a Boeser defenseman miss badly with a dirty dangle, followed by a hard rip on the cage. Jack should improve as his feet catch up to his body. He made an impression here and played well in all three zones. Grade B+
