Personal Statement
My name is Brady Rappuhn and I am a 6’0” 145 lb left wing who plays a strong two-way game. I have played Varsity Hockey since my Freshman year, starting and playing in key game situations. Strong work ethic and stick handling skills are my strengths while always continuously striving to improve these skills along with my speed and strength. In the fall before the Sophomore and Junior high school seasons, I played for the Michigan Development Hockey League including their U16 tournament team traveling to the Motor City Cup, NAHL U16 Showcase, and Chicago CCM Invite. During my Sophomore and Junior years playing on the Heritage Varsity team, I took on a bigger role leading the team in both points and assists as well as playing in special game circumstances and earning State Runner-up as a team both years. As a result, I was rewarded with All State 1st Team (Junior) and Honorable Mention (Sophomore), Division 1 All Tournament Team (Junior), and All Conference 1st Team (Sophomore & Junior). I was also named as one of the assistant captains my Junior year and Captain my senior year. In the Spring of my Junior year I played on Team Michigan (Juniors) at the CCM National Invitational Tournament in Minnesota. Prior to starting my Senior year, I played for the Michigan Hockey Advancement U18 Team.
I pride myself on being a hard worker both on and off the ice learning as much as I can about the game. I have been playing travel hockey since I was very young and have always been on teams that continuously challenged me. Over my youth career, I have been able to experience three state championships, along with several trips to international silver sticks. I have also participated in several high-level tournaments, including the Nike Bauer and Warrior AAA tournaments. In addition to travel hockey, I have also participated on several summer teams that traveled to tournaments in Canada and Maine over the years. I truly believe that all of this experience has led me to be the player that I am today and strive to be in the future. Playing at this level has provided me the opportunities to compete at the highest level while improving my performance. I have learned that you need to continue to push yourself to be better and the only way you can do this is to play higher competition.
I believe my positive attitude toward hockey has also translated into my school work. My Freshman, Sophomore, and Junior years I took honors and IB/AP courses to push myself to ensure I will be ready for college. My senior year I will be dual enrolling at the local community college to earn college credits. Finding a college that will offer both a challenging academic program where I can pursue studies in the medical field along with a hockey program where I will be a great fit for my level of play is my ultimate goal.
I have always enjoyed and put a lot of effort into the training aspect of hockey. In addition, I understand what it means to be a supportive teammate both on and off the ice. Gaining the respect and approval of my coach and teammates has kept me a driven athlete.
