Personal Statement
I want to start by noting that I give credit to my mom for all my good qualities and achievements. I grew up with family and financial problems, but I am incredibly grateful to have had a mom that has supported me through everything and taught me to earn everything that I have. I became interested in hockey when my parents put me on the ice at three years old. My dad played and as a young boy I looked up to everything he did. It has always been my passion, and all my problems disappear when I am on the ice. Through playing hockey I learned that I am my own worst enemy. Nobody can stop me quicker than myself and nobody can push me harder than me. I am nothing without confidence and that is and always has been my hardest battle.
Throughout my hockey career, I have always battled with being on the lower team. I believe that the underdog is always hungrier than the guy on top and that is why I grow. What makes me a suitable candidate for your team is that I do not have many weak points. I am a responsible, two-way defenseman on the ice. What makes me different from other recruits is that I work in silence and believe in results instead of talking. I commit entirely to responsibility of the "quieter" details. I put emphasis on consistency, as well as efficient progression through hard work and discipline. My main academic goals have always been to have straight A’s and to actually learn what I am taught, not just collect points. I believe that school is less about intelligence and more about work ethic. In college, I look forward with the same goals while I set myself up for my life after school.
