The moment I realized how much hockey meant to me was during my first year of Pee-Wee’s when I was placed on the B1 team. The prior two years I had played on the Squirt A team with the association. Not making the Pee-Wee A team gave me the desire and will to be a stronger hockey player and be able to compete at a higher level of hockey. I sat down with my parents and asked to move from association play to build my skills at Minnesota Made choice program. That opportunity my parents allowed me to have created a brand new hockey player from me, I used my teammates more, and grew my hockey IQ to be able to compete with some of the best in state. Those four years of hard work at school, on -ice and off-ice I was able to compete for my varsity hockey team on first line of D my sophomore year.
I had a fire inside the classroom to push myself and enrolled in AP-classes with a desire to excel over my other classmates and friends. My mindset to compete has always given me an edge over others; whether it be on a test or out there on the ice pushing myself and teammates to work harder. I believe with my abilities and mindset I can compete for a college hockey program along with focus on my future in school.
