Personal Statement
I am a 2018 Honors Graduate of Northfield High School (Northfield, MN) with a 3.931 GPA and a 2 year member of the National Honor Society, actively involved in multiple sports, activities, and leadership roles in school and in the community. I was a 3 year starter for the NHS Varsity Hockey team and Captain and MVP for the 2017-18 season. I was drafted by and currently play for the New Ulm Steel and was recently selected for the 2019 Top Prospects Tournament. I continue to be involved in the community as well as taking part time online college classes.
I am a determined and committed team first player, leader and mentor both on and off the ice. "Jacob is a talented, hard working, respectful, coachable athlete and leader, big, fast, heavy shot, quick, great hands, can beat you with speed and quickness or with his crafty stick handling and play making abilities." - Coach Luckraft. I was selected for the Upper Midwest HS Elite Hockey League (CCM/SE) and as one of five "Minnesota's Best Leaders" and a featured player for Breakdown Sports. I train at MAP South Hockey, Mike Bowman Hockey, play in various leagues/tournaments, weight lift and dryland train to continue improving my overall skill set as well as my skating. I am an instructor/coach for the Northfield Summer Hockey program which enables me to continue to teach, support and promote youth hockey. My academic interests are in the fields of Math and the Sciences and my collegiate aspirations include playing hockey at a Division I or Division III school while pursuing a degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, or Economics.
