Personal Statement
My dad bleeds hockey, so there was no doubt I would have skates on my feet whether I liked it or not. Thankfully, I fell in love with the game at a young age. I found an early liking to the thrill of the game from taking the body to putting the puck in the net. Throughout my years of playing hockey, I have learned dedication, discipline, and teamwork.
Although I am not necessarily the player who dangles and scores all the goals, I am a player who is highly relied on because of my speed and tenacity. I skate with all my energy, am willing to dig for the puck, and have a never quit attitude. I take pride making the nice/smart pass instead of always trying to be the one who puts the puck in the net. However, I am also not afraid to shoot and am known to have a strong shot. I am a team player who will support my teammates in both success and failure. Another strong characteristic is that I feel I’m a strong two-way player, I make the nice pass in the offensive zone but will get on my horse and get back to break up an odd man rush back in our D zone. I feel that I’m also strong on the faceoff dot and win upwards of 70% of my draws.
On and off the ice I am reliable, energetic, and just love to have fun. I also play lacrosse, in which my personality, energy, and strength also shine through. Both hockey and lacrosse compliment each other well with their physicality, navigation on the field/ice, and teamwork. I continue to also work on strength so that I can build speed and continue to compete at higher levels of hockey.
My goals for the future are to have a successful high school career with both my grades and hockey. I would love to be the Captain who helps lead his team to the Minnesota High School State Tournament. I would love to give my parents the gift of earning a college scholarship. Even if this means playing Juniors, I am willing to put that time into it. Scholarship or not, being able to play hockey at the college level would be a huge honor.
