Personal Statement
My name is Joey Rancilio I am a senior at Parkway South High school in Manchester, Missouri currently playing on Chesterfield U18 CSDHL. I fell in love with hockey at a very young age. Hockey has been an overriding passion my entire life. Growing up in a hockey family as the youngest of three boys, I had a competitive drive implemented into my mentality very early. I believe constant competition/battling/fighting with my brothers has driven me both physically and mentally into the hockey player I am today. I have been very fortunate to play on teams with great coaches. The privilege of playing hockey at a high level has brought me all across the United States as well as some parts of Canada. Hockey has taught me discipline, teamwork, time management, and patience. Hockey is not the only priority I have for my future. I am a hardworking student-athlete. I play on two different teams (club and high school) while working a part-time job at a local golf course. Balancing a busy schedule has been an educational process that will help me in life. Academically, I am enrolled in a sports medicine career exploration class that connects students to mentor companies. Through this class, I have been able to shadow sports medicine professionals on college campuses and private businesses. This class along with my passion for sports has led me to my plan to major in sports medicine in college. I have been able to maintain a 3.3 accumulative GPA. Following my senior year, I am planning on playing junior hockey to further develop my game. I do not have a goal to reach a specific junior league or specific college level. My goal is to develop into the best player and person I can be, playing at the highest level obtainable.
