I first started playing hockey when I was 5 years old. Just a few lessons hockey has taught me over the years are dedication, leadership, and disappointment. I am truly dedicated to this game and love what kind of impact it has on my character and my personality as well. Hockey has developed me into a leader and a player that my coaches can count on in dire situations. I have had to make many sacrifices because of hockey, but I would not change that for the world. I practiced, trained, and played as hard as I can each time on the ice to improve my personal game and help my team find success.
I have been on teams that have had winning, losing and even undefeated seasons. I found out that you have to adapt to your surroundings because no team you play on will ever be the same. Teams lose players to competitors and also gain players to create a different culture, but we are still always working together for one common goal, a championship. I also learned that losing is a part of the game (not the end of the world) and sometimes even taught me the best lessons to improve my game.
I cannot imagine not playing hockey because I truly love the sport. I want to make an impact on any roster and on any campus I attend. It is more than a sport to me. It is more than a game to me. Hockey is life.
