Personal Statement

On July 31st, I accepted an offer to play for the Vernon Vipers in the BCHL for the 2016/17 Season, and I look forward to playing at the Junior A level.

For the 2015/16 Season, I played for Omaha U18 AAA in the NAPHL.   I finished the Season as the Goalie Leader in GAA (1.20), tied as Goalie Leader with 4 shutouts, and in the top 5 for SAV (.933).    Additionally, I was selected as a league All Star and was a recipient of the APEX Performer Award for Under 18 Goalies.

For the 2014/15 Season I played for USNTDP Under 18 in Ann Arbor for the final month of the season to fill a goalie gap.  I also played for Victory Honda U18 AAA.    The USNTDP goalie coach saw me playing for Victory Honda and called to invite me to play for the team.  I finished the Season practicing with the NTDP Under 18 and Under 17 teams.

Omaha finished the Season ranked 17th Nationally.    Victory Honda was ranked 11th Nationally and I finished the 2014/15 Season with a 2.24 GAA and SAV of .910.

For the past two years, I have billeted away from home to play elite level AAA hockey and have managed the demands and stresses of these moves while improving my performance and maintaining good grades (3.8 Unweighted GPA - National Honor Society and Presidential Award for Academic Achievement).  With each team, I have integrated well into the team and have made good friends quickly.   In school, I have also integrated well into very different and diverse student communities.    My coaches describe me as having a very good work ethic and being dependable with excellent behavior.    I realize that coaches at the college level need to balance a player's athletic talent with other factors that indicate whether the player is a good teammate or potentially a behavior or academic risk.   I believe that my strong athletic ability and performance is complemented by demonstrated academic discipline, work ethic and ability to integrate into a team and any type of student community.  Based upon my recent history, I am confident that I can help any team that I play for, be a productive member of a team and a good student.
