Personal Statement
I started skating when I was three years old and by the time I was five, I knew that being a goalie was in my blood. Hockey has been my passion ever since. I am very coachable, dedicated to continuously working on my game and love being part of a team. I am on the smaller side but I make up for it with my speed, flexibility and love of the ice.
My passion for hockey motivates me to do well in other areas of my life, including in school and maintaining my physical health. I am not the strongest student, but I have been working hard to improve my grades. I have brought up my GPA to a 3.12 and continue to do so this year.
One of my biggest strengths is my ability to adapt to changing situations and adversity. This is something that I developed after my dad passed away. It has helped me turn disappointment into motivation, accept unexpected events in my life, enjoy life even though things don't always go the way I expect, and develop significant mental strength. It helps me with my hockey game and many other areas of my life. I also enjoy being a leader on the ice, helping people, and making people laugh.
I have played club hockey for years and just wrapped up my last last club season with the Manchester Flames as a U18. I am on the varsity team for Bedford High School in NH. I continuously work toward improving my on-ice skills, as well as my strength and flexibility. I train weekly with goalie coaches from Mike Buckley's GDS Goalies in one-on-one sessions and in a twice weekly intensive goalie camp in the summer. I also work for GDS in helping to train other goalies from mites through juniors and I am working toward achieving an independent goalie coaching role.
