Personal Statement
One of my goals in the next few years is to attend college to get a good education and to set up a good future for myself. My main goal in college is to get an Finance degree so that I can manage stocks or finances for a company. While in college, I hope to continue to play hockey since I have played it my whole life and I am very passionate about it. Also, I plan on meeting new people in college and discovering new interests by trying new things.
There are many things that make me a good candidate for a college hockey team. My main asset is my skating ability; my speed and agility make up for my lack of size, allowing me to beat defenders and score goals. I also have great hockey sense on the ice, and can anticipate impending plays. In addition, I am a strong two-way player, which is useful since hockey is not just a one-way sport.
I have many characteristics that make me different from other recruits. One difference is I am a very optimistic person; if I am losing a game, instead of giving up I look for anyway I can to get my team back into the game. Another is I listen to constructive criticism from my coaches and apply it to improve my game. The moment I stop learning and stop trying to become better is the day I become less of a player. Also, I am unique because I am a three sport athlete, and play not only hockey but lacrosse and soccer as well. Finally, I am different when it comes to academics. Although I give it my all for sports, I put a lot of focus and effort into academics as well because it will help me be successful at work and in life. Academics and athletics are both very important to me, and I understand how useful they are in making me a better person.
