Personal Statement
Being a hockey player has taught me the most important life lessons. Hard work and determination will always pay off. For the last 10 years I've been playing tier 1 travel hockey and have never struggled making a team I wanted to be on, until the Summer of 2011. I went to try out for the New Jersey 02' team traveling to Quebec for the Pee Wee International Tournament. I was cut after the second round and the shock and disappointment I felt was awful. I was so discouraged and wasn't sure what my next step was.
My parents and coach encouraged me to try out for the New York team based out of Long Island and coached by Benoit Hogue. I was determined to make the team and I worked hard at it. I not only made it but earned the "A" on my jersey for the tourney. It has been one of the greatest experiences of my life and billeting taught me great life lessons.
Today, I continue to work hard with the help of my family and coaches. Hard work and dedication prevails, last week I received emails that I made the U16 All-Star Teams for both leagues I play in, AYHL & ECEL. I am prepared to play at the next level.
