Joshua Mitchell '16 Recruiting Profile

I’ve been playing hockey since I can remember, through the ups and downs I have experienced many things from raising trophies and receiving medals and making that big save to steal a game to the heartbreak of not making the team and losing the game and having the odd off night. Each of these experiences have given me motivation and have pushed me to develop and grow as a player. I still look back at these moments to motivate myself. I pride myself on my work ethic more than anything and it’s a great sense of accomplishment as I’m complimented and praised as I feel I have nothing less to give then my all.  My greatest achievement was making the Varsity Hockey Team my Junior Year, because I grew the most as a student-athlete maintaining the required Grade Point Average and received the NVSHL scholastic award. I was fortunate to join a great program and finished 3rd, over my high school career I learned the important team values such as teamwork, commitment, and leadership.

I am looking for a program that fits me academically as much as athletically. I am looking to pursue the sports management area of study as its something that has always interested me and feeds from my love of hockey and sports as a whole. Through college I hope to gain the skills and knowledge of athletics and academics to better me for my career. Education is my number one priority and I value the student athlete experience as much as the athlete experience I hope to take part in. I want to grow as a student-athlete as I am thriving to better my self. I believe I not only have the talent to compete on the collegiate stage but also the character and  work ethic and the intangible skills such as being a team player and having heart. I am open to any opportunity that comes my way. I know I have what it takes to make an impact on your program.
