Throughout my youth hockey career, my team always seemed to be one of the best in the state. I never went in to a game thinking we wouldn't win. The teams I played for were always 1st, 2nd. or 3rd in the state and we always got a good seed going into the state tournament. When I made the West Fargo Packer high school hockey team as a freshman I knew the games would be at a lot faster pace and a heavier style of play. My first few games were a learning curve, but I quickly adjusted to the pace and learned the game. We played well in our first half of the season, but after the Christmas break we started to struggle. I had never faced adversity like this but I kept my head high and continued to play my game and encourage teammates when no one else believed. This is one example of the leadership, optimism, and passion for the game I love. I know I am not the next Connor McDavid or Auston Mathews but I train like I will play against them one day. Everyday of the week I am either at the gym, shooting puck, stick handling, or bettering myself. With that being said, I do put my education before hockey though. I work hard in school and strive for the best grades possible. Early mornings and late nights are normal for me because I want to be the best I can be in the classroom and on the ice.
I am looking for a program that will push me to the best I can be both physically and mentally. As I said before, I value the academic aspect of being a student athlete as much as being an athlete. My ultimate goal is to play collegiate level hockey, as well as furthering my education. I believe I do not only have the talent to compete at the NCAA level, but also the work ethic, confidence, creativity, communication, and most importantly a passion for the game and education. On any team, I look to make an immediate impact and bring a high energy to the locker room, ice, and classroom. I will always encourage my peers to do their best and am consistent in everything I do. I know what it takes to be a top athlete and will do what ever it takes to make an impact your team!
