Personal Statement
I put on my first pair of skates at the age of 3. From the moment I started skating, I fell in love with hockey. As a young child learning to skate, much of my development and skills took place skating with my dad and friends on our small backyard rink.
After a few years of playing I made the All-Star team, and then began playing travel. This is when I really developed an eagerness to continually learn more about the game. I love that with every year I play, I learn so much from each coach, player and team.
I feel I have a really good hockey sense, with an ability to “see” the game. I am a hard working teammate, and always striving to meet my team’s expectations. Hockey skills I bring to my team are a solid shot, grind in the corners and ability to generate plays.
I have played baseball, lacrosse, football and ran track in the past, but for me, no other sport compares to hockey. Hockey has given me the opportunity to play the sport I love at an elite level, and make lifelong connections. It has also taught me resilience, time management, and sacrifice. I am incredibly thankful every day for this amazing game I am fortunate enough to play.
My future goal is to continue playing hockey in college. I would like to find a college and hockey program that is the best fit for me both athletically and academically. I am undecided as to my area is study at this time.
