Ever since I took to the ice for the first time seven years ago, I have loved the game of hockey. Like most goalies, I started off as a player my first season but eventually strapped on the pads. From the moment I first began playing the game I love, I have always been an underdog. Every time someone has questioned my ability, I have continuously proved them wrong.
I feel that I am a leader on my team, but I prefer to lead by example. I lead by always giving 110% effort on and off the ice. I always pride myself on being the hardest working and most dedicated person in the room. It doesn’t matter if it's the workout room, on the ice, or in the classroom.
In my first year of high school, I have a 3.8 GPA. I understand there is a lot of room for improvement but I am committed and willing to put in the extra time and effort to bump up my grades.
In the summers I volunteer for two weeks as a camp counselor at the local hockey camp, mentoring kids under the age of 12. I also work on Monday nights, helping children aged three to eight to learn how to skate. On top of volunteering at those camps, I also do my own goalie training every Saturday Morning at 8:00 am.
My goals coming out of highschool are to increase and maintain my GPA to a 4.0 average to help obtain an academic scholarship. To continue playing hockey at the highest level I possibly can, and to become a better man through my volunteer work.
