Oliver Sokolsky '27 Recruiting Profile

Hello, my name is Oliver Sokolsky. I am from Toronto, Ontario, and I graduate high school in 2027. I am a right shot defenceman. I currently play hockey for the Reps Hockey Club, and formerly for the Toronto Junior Canadiens for 5 years, as well as the North York Rangers. My goal is to play hockey at the pro level, and I can achieve that through the NCAA route. The reason for this is that having a back up option is great, as well as it being a great experience. I am not the loudest person, but I can still lead by example. I have very good grades in school, getting a bad grade just doesn't sit right with me. I also view myself as a kind person, and help out others whether it be school work or simply holding a door. I love playing hockey and I always want to win. I have been on the almost 5 days a week since the age of 5. I have had good role models in hockey.  Both my uncle Jamie Sokolsky and my cousin Ethan Werek were all stars in the OHL and NHL draft picks. I would be honoured to follow in their footsteps. I believe my play style as a defenceman is very calm, smart, tactical, and controlled. These are my best attributes that let’s me slow the game down and see the entire ice very well. I can break the game down in my head even though the pace of play is extremely fast. Overall, I would be very grateful if I had the opportunity to play at a high level, and playing at a top Division I school in the US would open up the world to me. I have seen first hand through my uncle and cousin how hockey has taken them to every place in the world. I deserve to make my dream a reality because I work so hard everyday to be the best in school, in hockey, and just as a person overall. I am aware that there are many other people who want to play pro, but I think I have a very unique play style and I am worth a shot.
