Personal Statement
My main ambition is to attend a highly regarded school and play hockey at a high level as well. I plan to further my education in pursuit of a future career in the field of engineering. Throughout my entire life as it relates to both hockey and school, I have always aimed for the highest level of self achievement.
Many events and people have influenced my life in a positive way. First, my parents are the people who most encourage me to be my best self through their constant effort and support. My strong interest in playing hockey originated from experiencing how intense and precise every second of play was on the ice. Throughout my hockey career, I believe that I have learned so much about myself as a person. Hockey has taught me that I am a person who wants to constantly improve and become better than every single person I compete against. I have also realized that my life goal is to accomplish everything to the best of my ability while working to control what I can control. My effort is a huge facet of my game because I am willing to give 110% every single second I am on that ice, no matter the circumstances.
My leadership efforts and abilities can be seen throughout my hockey career, recognized from both my teammates and coaches. As a member of different teams, I have had a “C” on my jersey for 3 consecutive years. In years that I was not recognized as Captain, I was honored to wear an “A” on my jersey on multiple occasions as well. I continue to work to lead my respective teams, often leading by great example. I always have that extra determination for my game, and that competitive edge helps separate me over others. My ability to “see the ice” often separates me from my competition, both in game competition and being able to easily grasp concepts/methods introduced by my coaches. My coaches have always looked to me to be the one who could spark some energy for our team during difficult moments throughout the season, both with my use of words and my on ice habits.
My academic goals for high school are to have continued success as a member of the National Honor Society and to be a member of the honor roll every single semester. I strive to achieve a high end GPA, and put myself in a position to meet many college requirements when it comes to my test scores and other aspects of my academic profile. It is very important to me to attend a prestigious institution that will permit me to best pursue my future goals, on and off the ice.
