Personal Statement
My name is Seth Teitelman and I am sophomore in high school this year. I see college as a way to get to my ultimate goal to play in the NHL. I didn’t know why initially, but as I matured, I realized that I took the game, practice, coaching, and physical conditioning very seriously. It was more to me than a sport; it was my future. I play the position that most helps the team. My best spot is left defenseman. I can and have played every position. Working together and creating trust and true friendships is what makes my time playing hockey fun and rewarding.
I’m committed to finding a college that is known for its mechanical engineering program. My mind works a certain way. The same qualities that promote good decision-making on the ice, drive my desire to make things work mechanically. In high school, I push myself to take harder classes that will prepare me for college. I am eager to learn new things and I am an active hands-on learner who enjoys putting things together and working with 3d printing, cad drawing, and electronics.
It takes hard work to succeed in an engineering major and I’m up for that. I bring a drive to succeed and earn my success in everything I do. As a team member, I back up my peers. I listen to my coach and enjoy training every day with different types of trainers. I am excited about what I can learn to improve my performance on the ice. Training is essential. I want it to be productive and make a difference on game day. When I have setbacks, I work to overcome them. When I fail, I listen to other people's thoughts, I don't get mad at teammates, I want to build them up. I try to figure out how to improve my game and to feel better. My teammates are my family.
I accept responsibility for my performance as an athlete, academically, and my behavior on campus and while traveling with the team. This is my future. I alone make choices that make me a great player, teammate, student, and person.
