Personal Statement
I plan to combine Business and Psychology in order to work in a field that deals with "human side of business", such as conflict resolution, mergers & acquisitions, or consumer behavior/integrated marketing. These two fields of study will provide me with the fundamentals needed for business, leadership, and people. I also plan to obtain my Master's of Business Administration degree immediately after my Bachelor's degree is completed.
A right-handed defenseman with good core strength and strong skating skills, I have a reputation for playing the "physical" game. I have great respect for my coaches, teammates, ref's and opposing players. So when I play the "physical" game, it is with an allegiance to the sportsmanship mentality. I do not play with intent to harm; but only to defend my players, my goalie and my net! When the situation calls to be an "offensive" defenseman, I can "skate the puck up" and get it where it needs to be. I am known for reading the ice well, and having a strong, accurate pass to my teammates. In the locker room, I am sociable and "witty", and try to take a lead when necessary. I do not like negative talk in the locker room or on the bench.
I believe my greatest "differentiator" is my character, especially in the areas of loyalty, honesty, honor, optimism, and working through obstacles. I also have a dislike for "breaking the law" (drugs, alcohol, etc.). I am always looking for ways to help others, and I believe that shows on & off the ice.
Athletically, I am strong with good work ethic. I like getting physical and gritty when I need to. I am "coachable", and will work hard to earn respect. In the game, I adjust to situations as needed. I believe a good athlete has a combination of character, skill and "heart".
Academically, I have a rigorous curriculum at Lancaster Country Day. I transferred there as a Freshman in high school. I definitely had a more difficult time adjusting to the rigor and expectations, so I feel that as I could be doing better. I have made initiative to continually make improvements, but want to get at least a 3.4 GPA. I need to learn and grow in this area, but will continue to work at it and stay positive. I tend to be stronger in the classes I like (Creative Writing, Literature, Philosophy, Forensics).
