Personal Statement
Hello I'm Kasmier (Kas) Moncheck. My goal is to play at a D1 school and ultimately play Professional Hockey. A lot of people try to downplay my goals but I have already beaten some odds. What you don't know about me is I was adopted by my parents, Jerry and Jodi Moncheck when I was 10 months old. I was only 1 of 6 children (120 total) that made it out of Minsk Baby Home #2 in 2003. That was my first win for beating the odds. At 14 years old I obtained my rank of Eagle Scout with the Boy Scouts of America, My Eagle Project was doing a collection drive for the Children's Home of Pittsburgh to help children who started out life like me. I now 74 Merit Badges and have 3 Silver Palms and 1 Gold Palm along with 3 of 5 Catholic Awards, which I will get the next two over the next two years. That was my second win for beating the odds. My grandfather always tells me when I help him on his farm in the summers is that nothing ever substitutes hard work.
I take my hockey very seriously. My natural position is defense, both the right and left. I am a more offensive minded defenseman that likes to join rushes, carry the puck, and pinch down the wall. I am also a very physical defenseman that is not afraid to hit and block shots. I have experience at playing center/right wing. I have played for many good coaches including Riley Armstrong (Wheeling Nailers Assistant coach), Tyler Kennedy (Former pro hockey player), Yuri Krivkohija (former Soviet Union/NHL player and coach of Esmark Stars), Mike Daley (Former college hockey player at Penn State), and Johnathan Johnston (Shady Side Academy head coach)
