Dear Prospective Coach:
My name is Christian Duvall (C.J.). I just finished my rookie season in the USPHL NCDC league with the New Hampshire Jr. Monarchs where I finished 6th on the team in scoring. Before that I played Prep School hockey at the Hill School where I was an assistant captain of the team for two seasons. I have two great desires for my future, to go to a respected college and to continue playing hockey at a high level. I am considered a strong two-way forward with speed who can make plays and create opportunities for my teammates. I consider my speed, hockey sense, and fast decision making to be the strengths of my game. I am also a versatile player with extensive experience on both the penalty kill and power play units; playing as a forward on the power play and also on the point from time to time. Over the past two seasons I have played predominantly left wing, but have played center throughout my playing years too. Essentially, I am coachable and always willing to work harder to improve my game. As I transitioned into high school, life became complex. With traveling two hours to each practice and home game, I learned to be disciplined. Determination enabled me to achieve on the ice and academically. I kept my grades up and made multiple all-star teams. When deciding that I definitely wanted to play hockey at a higher level, my family considered prep school as an option. After being recruited by two schools, I chose to attend the Hill School instead of going the more traditional route of the New England prep school. The Hill focused on more than my hockey potential, it focused on my entire potential. I graduated with a 3.61 GPA while taking a mix of traditional, honors, and AP courses. Being prepared for college in every way is important to me. In addition to playing hockey and my academic studies, I am involved in community service and church activities. At school, I worked with the Pottstown Cares projects fulfilling needs in the community. My hockey team has organized benefits for cancer research, has participated in fundraisers for youth athletic programs, and has shipped needed supplies to areas affected by natural disasters. With my church, I have packaged dry meals that were used with missions in Africa and I have helped out with summer vacation Bible school. Applying myself to be successful in all areas of life is my goal. I am ready to bring my desire to the right school and program.
