Personal Statement

Hockey is, and has always been my passion. I have been playing since I was four years old, and at the elite level since 10.  I am a very good all-around defenseman, always committed to my team and my coaches.  I’m a good leader, I have excellent work ethic and I always want to improve in all areas of my life.

As a player, my greatest strengths are skating skills and mobility, puck handling, and physical play in front of the net.  I am a fast learner, and easily able to follow the game plan and adapt to game situations.  I am a competitor, and at my best under pressure, in high stakes games.  As a teammate, I think I am appreciated, lead by example, and am able to positively influence others, speaking out at the right moments.  Since grade 6, I have been in a sports-study program, where I take classes in the mornings, and train on ice and off ice in the afternoons.  This program has taught me solid hockey skills, and it has also taught me to manage my time and priorities, so I can succeed in both school and sport.   My goal in hockey is to play in the QMJHL

As a person, I think I am well respected, and known to be kind, organized, and focused.  I enjoy all sports, and easily learn new ones with a little time and effort.  I do especially enjoy playing golf; I’ve been playing for 5 years now and am a 7 handicap.  Golf is a place for me to relax, and enjoy time with my family and friends.  My family and I also enjoy biking, watching movies, and travelling when we can.   At 15, I am not sure yet exactly what I want to do, but I do know by pursuing both my education and my sport, I will eventually figure it out.  I have thought of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, for which a university degree will certainly help me.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
