Mackenzie Wiens '15 Recruiting Profile

My reason for attending Athol Murray College of Notre Dame was to better prepare myself for a future enrollment into a U.S. College program. From the beginning, and now into my third year, I have found great success not only through hockey, but also academically and maturity as a person. This brought all kinds of challenges and sacrifices along the way. I am a firm believer that the Lord comes first, family second and school and hockey to follow. I feel that I already have made a strong footprint in my endeavors. Academically, I have had to work hard to maintain an honor role status throughout my school years.  As an athlete I have participated in all sports with a natural ability and success, but my true passion is of course hockey. Although starting hockey from the age of nine, I have been able to work my way up to the top levels to my current team where I am in the top spots. My game style has been noted from coaches to being a smart and simple game play. Coaches have commented  that I am very coachable and a true student of the game; being compared to players such as Zach Bogosian, Brent Seabrook and Luke Schenn.  Notre Dame selected me to be a dorm leader.  It is also noted that I lead by example to my teammates and younger peers.  I was nominated in the province of Saskatchewan by my school for the Chuck Herriott Award for good sportsmanship. In conclusion, I would like to say playing in a college hockey program has always been my ultimate goal and am looking forward to having contact with your college directors in the future.
