Personal Statement
My name is Nolan Cole I am a determined hockey player from Connecticut. I am currently in my first year playing for the Worcester Jr. Railers EHL team
Last season I played for the Donohue Hockey Skills (Hamden, CT) Split Season AA 18U team followed by North Haven High School, where we won the Connecticut High School State Championship (2023 - Division 2). In the 2021-22 season I earned a spot on the CIAC freshman/sophomore all-star team. My game can be described as explosive and fast as I pride myself on being a very physical two-way forward who loves to go into corners and in front of the net on offense and block shots and kill penalties in the defensive zone. I have the ability to also contribute on the score sheet (averaging over one point per game last year). I always play with the goal of outworking my peers and teammates. I will not stop until I reach my dream and I am always willing and put the necessary time into training to be the best possible person and hockey player every day, both on and off the ice.
I have a dream to play high level juniors then college hockey where I hope to earn a business degree. I am committed to working toward my dreams and I wake up more motivated every day to do activities that bring me closer to my goals. My strengths on the ice are getting the puck out of the corner, out-skating defenders, finding open ice, making the smartest possible passes, and back-checking. I also thrive in the physical aspect of the game. I respond well to many types of coaches and look after my teammates on and off the ice. Overall, I want to continue to develop into a complete player who can play in all situations. I played on both the penalty kill and power play units at North Haven High School.
What I look for in a college is strong academics and on-campus opportunities that will help me reach my goals, while being part of a great tradition. I am open to any university location or size. Ideally a hockey team should be extremely challenging and feel like a family environment where everybody pushes each another towards the goal of being champions. Academically, I would love the opportunity to get to know my instructors and build strong relationships in a supportive classroom setting. In my opinion, a school should feel like home and should represent a strong community that produces leaders. I am confident that I will add passion, character, and leadership inside and outside the classroom. Thank you for considering me for your program.
