Personal Statement

I started loving hockey after watching the Norfolk Admirals play when I was 5 years old.  I started roller blading and moved to hockey lessons when I was 7.  I played house hockey for 2 years and then travel hockey for the U10, U12, U14 and U16 Hampton Roads Whalers.  For the 2020-2021 season I  played hockey for the Okanagan Hockey Ontario U18AAA Prep team in Whitby, Ontario.  I gained valuable life lessons, independence and increased confidence in myself and my hockey skills after living in Canada and receiving very structured on and off ice hockey training.

When I play, I know that I have the support of my family, my faith, teammates, past and current coaches and hockey mentors.  I am very coachable, a supportive teammate and I train hard everyday on my body and hockey skills, so I am ready to play where and when needed. 2021-2022 is exciting for me because I am going into my High School senior year and playing my first year of Junior Hockey.  My focus will be on maintaining the highest grades possible and continuing on my hockey development on and off the ice.

I have attended lots of  hockey camps and most like Christian hockey camps.  At Liberty University, my understanding and appreciation of God and how he impacts my life on and off the ice grew and I know he is with me each time I take the ice.  At two college hockey prospect camps I was graded as having D2 hockey potential.  I really appreciate the feedback on my strengths and even more on the areas that need improvement. At each camp, the coaches saw me as having two-way skills and used me in different plays at both forward and defense.   My long term goal is to earn a degree in Sports Medicine, grow my faith and continue working with athletes in the future.

Feedback: Strengths at defense: D-zone good gap control; physical; D-zone awareness and knowing where to be. Improvement areas at defense: Decent shot but work on quicker release; get up the ice to be tight & offensive threat; talk more. Strength at Left Wing: Smart, positionally sound, gets to loose pucks, makes the needed plays. Improvement areas at Left wing: Shoot more, always hustle - keep feet moving.
