Armand Hess '15 Recruiting Profile

Coming into my senior hockey season was a big moment for me in determining what kind of legacy I wanted to leave behind. After losing a skilled set of players from the previous year, I had to elevate my game to exceed the expectations put on our team, by others and myself. My goal was to be as successful as our team was in the past, and prove that we could be just as dominant of a team. As captain of our team, I helped our younger players develop into not only better hockey players, but as people. By focusing on improving my game everyday, I gave them an example to look up to. Through the hardest parts of our season, I chose to move forward and battle through adversity, to give our team the best chance of winning. I think in doing so, I gave them the motivation to achieve their goals. Our season ended shy of our previous seasons achievements, but our young team had finally developed into a tough team to play against.

Playing hockey has always been more than a sport to me. It has taught me to make the sacrifices necessary for your team to be successful, that others aren’t willing to give. Being on a team is like having a second family for me. I always want the best for them, and as their leader, I help them work together as one unit, so we can put our best foot forward. Playing hockey at  the next level is not only my aspiration, but my chance to continue help my team and myself grow as people and hockey players. I am looking for a team that will be the best fit for my athletic and academic aspirations. I plan on studying biology or psychology in college, so one day I can become a doctor and help people around the world.
