Hockey has shaped me to be the person that I am today. It has taught me leadership skills and has matured me into a young man. During travel league I was captain two out of the three years that we had captains. I was also nominated to be an alternate captain next season. I have learned how to take criticism and use that criticism to become a better player and person. I have been skating since I was 3 years old. It wasn't until I was 8 that I was playing travel hockey. I decided to play hockey because I wanted to try something new and it's a sport that isn't common in my city. Through all my years of playing hockey I have learned how to be a leader and what it's like to be apart of a team. Not only have I been working hard on the ice, but I have been working hard in the classroom. My academic goal in high school is to continue being on "A" honor roll and my academic goal in college is to be on the Dean's list. I will achieve both of these goals by studying, taking notes, doing my homework, turning my homework in on time, and to do the best that I can on tests and quiz's. Since I live in a small city, when I use to play travel league we sometimes only had enough players for two lines. So I had to persevere through the pain that my legs brought me so that I could be there for my team and give 100% all the time.
