Personal Statement
When I was 7 years old my Mom went to sign my sister up for figure skating and a friend of hers said she should sign me up for hockey. This was the best thing that could have happened to me, the first time I got on the ice I loved it and have been playing hockey passionately ever since. I have tried other sports in this time such as football, baseball and soccer, although I appreciate these sports nothing compares to the game of hockey for me. Since I began playing I have wanted to be on the ice every day to this day. I never miss a practice or a game, I am at every open hockey and when given the chance I help at practices with the squirt team and have also volunteered my time working with the mites and mini mites. I am very committed to this sport and that will never change. I have learned that perseverance and hard work have made me who I am, on and off the ice.
I knew from the beginning I didn't want to just play through high school, I want to play after also. College hockey is my dream goal. I have been working very hard to set my hockey future up and hopefully create some opportunities for myself. I also take my academics serious. I realize they go hand in hand when wanting to play college hockey. I am taking college classes my senior year to start obtaining credits. Immediately after high school I hope to play on a NAHL or USHL juniors team to prepare me for college. I had attended the NAHL combine recently in Detroit and received some great feedback.
I have learned through the years that I am very dedicated, passionate, committed and hard working. I have made 2nd team all-conference the last two years in high school along with being the team lead scorer and have made the WEHL all-state team the 3 years of playing and being the team lead scorer. I have also found myself to be a leader. I am the Captain of our Varsity High School Team and I work hard to set a good example for the them. I motivate, encourage and give praise to my team mates. I also coordinate training and running off ice with the team which creates an even bigger bond.
I have not done all of this myself, I have a very big support system. My parents especially have always been there for me and dedicated their time to ensure I would get to all of my practices, games and out of town tournaments. They have told me if I work hard I can accomplish most anything.
