Personal Statement

When I was just 11 years old my family found out my father was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer.  As our family was confronted with this tragic news we did not know what to expect. I had just started playing lacrosse for 1 month when we found out about my dad's sickness.  He explained to me that life is like sports, there are only certain things you can control,  such as keeping a positive attitude, always giving 100% and never give up.  I remember wanting to make my dad happy and proud of me so I worked very hard practicing and playing lacrosse. Unfortunately he was so sick and not able to go to any of my games that year. We received good news a year later my father was told that his cancer had gone into remission.  I have learned so many lessons in life to never give up even when you think there is no way to win you always continue working hard, stay focused and keep a positive attitude.  Four years later my dad is back 100% healthy and he never misses any of my lacrosse games.

I learned a lot about how important attitude and hard work and how that occurs everyday in life, school and sports. I feel very fortunate to have learned so much by the age of 14 and I look forward to using these life lessons in my future with lacrosse and my school work. I never take anything for granted and will always work hard in school and sports.

  • 3d Blue Chip: West Regional Camp Standout Jered Kenny, Midfield, San Ramon Valley (Calif.)/Alcatraz Outlaws, 2020 Kenny shined at the event as a midfielder who can shoot on the run and uses a good stick and hustle to make a lot of plays. He is skilled and showed a little of everything over the course of the weekend at 3d Blue Chip West. He showed shake. He was vocal. He used a nasty split and was slick with his stick when carrying. His overhand shot was really hard when he got it off. We watched him win one draw and speed right down the gut to score. He scored another from the outside with a sidearm shot. And he scored in a different way by cutting down the middle, catching a feed and burying it from the interior. A righty, Kenny also split to his left to score a goal with his off hand.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
