Personal Statement

Words have power. The power to elevate, change a mindset, or bring defeat.

If two words defined my Freshman season, they would be: Goals Exceeded.

As a Freshman, I had three goals: make varsity, be in the starting lineup, and letter.

At our team banquet that year, I was very proud as I received my letter. However, I was surprised by what was to come. Being named 2nd Team All-Conference was an honor, but it wasn't the award that made me most proud that night. Being named War Hawk of the Year meant more than the other awards I received that night. The War Hawk is given to the player who consistently puts team above self, shows leadership, and never quits.

It was a great ending to the high school season and the start of a successful club season of lacrosse that summer.

Unfortunately, the two words that defined my Sophomore season were less positive: Frustration & Perseverance

I had to stay out of my head and call on "come-back" stories as I sat sidelined by an AC injury for most of my 2023 High School season. Words that kept me going during these difficult months were: Teammate, Leadership, Family, Determination, and Future.

While I couldn't be on the field, I showed up on the sideline and at practice to support and cheer on my teammates. (Many of whom had never picked up a stick before this season.)

When I was little, I used to tell my parents, "Family is everything." I still feel that way, but now my family extends to my team. I love lifting my lacrosse bros up: on the field after a good play; in the locker room after a hard loss; and, as we all work to be better players.

The injury tested my determination and commitment to the game.

Being sidelined stinks. I had to draw on my love of game and competitive nature.

I was determined to be there for my team with a winning mindset - despite our team's record, we have a "Never Give Up" unspoken code. If I couldn't be there for them on the field, I could show up in the way I led from the sideline.

Despite the disappointment of only being able to play a few games this spring, I was proud to once again letter and receive an All-Conference Honorary Mention.

My positive mindset paid off. And this summer season is off to a great start. My club team returned from the Long Island LaxFest as the 2025 Champions.

If my character traits fit well with your program and you are looking for a faceoff specialist who never gives up, I would love to hear from you.
