2020 Spotlight
2019 HighlightsMy primary goal for college is to earn a degree in a science-related field, potentially exercise science or physical therapy. I have not figured out my exact path, but I have enjoyed and excelled in both Chemistry and Physics classes in high school. I also aspire to play college lacrosse and believe that I have unique qualities to contribute to a team.
While lacrosse is my favorite sport, I am a multi-sport athlete and my dedication to athletics goes beyond practices and games. This past season I was a starter for my high school soccer team. I have been playing soccer since I was 3, I ski, I ran cross-country in middle school and enjoy running 5K and 10K races. Physical fitness is very important to me, I strongly believe in workouts and good nutrition. In addition, I am a certified soccer referee and ski instructor. Having the privilege of meeting a wide array of people and guiding them to play soccer the right way and teaching them to ski has helped me grow as a person and I really enjoy doing it. Another character-building experience has been my involvement in my school's Unified Sports program. I get to help kids with special needs show their competitive side and play sports, whether that is playing basketball, getting a touch on a soccer ball, or putting a lacrosse stick in their hands. I care about the positive impacts athletics has on people and that perspective has benefited me as a lacrosse player and a person overall.
My strengths in lacrosse are: my knowledge of the game, my work ethic and my team-first mentality. My father, who has coached me for many years, put a stick in my hands when I was very young and also started taking me to UNC and Duke practices and games in kindergarten to watch and learn. I continue to watch a lot of college and professional lacrosse with and eye towards learning. As a student of the game, I have become and expert at stringing sticks which has benefited me and my teammates. I have always been a smaller player, so I have focused on what I can control which is being as smart, skilled, quick and strong as possible. My desire to work hard will be key to my success both academically and on the lacrosse field through the rest of high school and through college.
