Personal Statement
Being named a varsity starter my junior year is definitely the highlight of my high school lacrosse career so far. In my career as a student-athlete, the most growth I've experienced was my sophomore year when my team suffered a devastating loss to the school rival who went on to be the state champions the same year. This experience really opened up my eyes to see that this sport, isn't just a sport. It's a group of dedicated individuals who were all so bonded that we thought of each other as brothers, as family. This made me really embrace the saying that my head coach would always say to my team: "WE
over ME."
I will always remember that team which was the best team that I've ever seen because every single player that stepped onto the field, had the full support of every single 29 other guys no matter what happened or what kind of play they made. I believe that we were the best at being a team throughout the highest of our highs, and the lowest of our lows. On this team, I learned how to be a teammate, a leader, and a friend. To always give positive feedback and show my commitment to the team not only on the field but also off the field. I know that I have the athletic ability to be able to compete at the college level. I also have the mental fortitude and the coach-ability to be a good college lacrosse player and
student.
Lastly, student-athletes are all about being a student first. As a student, I have put myself in the most challenging classes and pushing myself to the limit. I know I have what it takes to not only be a part of a great lacrosse program but also a great academic program as well.
