Personal Statement
First, I’d like to thank you for taking time out of your day to view my profile. My name is Luke Baldwin, I’ve played lacrosse for most of my life and I have a serious passion for the game. I love lacrosse and I’d love to play for as long as I possibly can. I always give it my all to make sure every rep in practice counts, so that I can for sure make every second of a game count. I try to carry that attitude into the classroom too. I’m currently in the top ten of my class, with a 4.88 out of 5.0 GPA. I’m very competitive and I always try to best I can do in everything.
I think one of the biggest things that set me apart from other student-athletes are my leadership skills. My schools motto is “Leave as a leader,” and it’s a big focus in a lot of aspects of our curriculum. I just recently finished a semester of a leadership course offered to sophomores at St. Laurence, and I took a lot from it. Another thing my school focuses on are projects, we have a project based curriculum. In projects I tend to take the leadership role and make sure everything goes smoothly.
I definitely try to transfer all of these leadership skills onto the lacrosse field as well. I was named the captain of my team last year, which I felt was a great honor and I didn’t take it lightly. We had quite a few of unexperienced players last season, and being one of the most experienced players, I made sure to encourage them and help them grow into solid players. I always tried to be there for my team last year when they needed me, I led the team in both assists and goals. With my lacrosse background I was also able to play for the varsity team as well as the JV as a freshmen.
Again I’d like to thank you for looking at my profile and reading this statement.
