Personal Statement
My goal is to continue the legacy of collegiate student athletes in my family. I am committed to pursuing a college experience where I am able to excel in both the classroom and on the field. I have always worked hard to make my teammates better while making significant contributions to high-performing teams. Hustle and determination have allowed me to compete in both lacrosse and basketball at the highest levels for my high school and club teams. In parallel, I have achieved high honors throughout my academic career while successfully completing AP and honors classes since my high school career started.
I just completed my second varsity lacrosse season at Loyola Academy. At Loyola I have earned two varsity letters in lacrosse and been a part of two state championship teams. I have contributed goals and assists throughout the regular season and state playoffs now for two years while playing both Attack and Midfielder. While I initially made the Loyola varsity team as an Attackman, I transitioned to Midfield in my junior year so that I could have a greater impact. Instead of waiting for opportunities to backfill for three D1 and one D3 Attack on our team, I began working at Midfield and had risen to Loyola's first middie line by the time the state playoffs started. I had the opportunity to play critical minutes throughout our championship run and had the pleasure of being part of our stall squad as we ran out the clock on our opponents in the Elite Eight, Final Four and state championship games.
I continue to improve my lacrosse skills by also playing on the Team One 2023 State Academy team. In parallel, I have balanced lacrosse with basketball as I was the starting guard on the Loyola Academy basketball team for a couple of years. In that capacity, I helped those teams win the Chicago Catholic championship in back-to-back years. I am also a member of Loyola Academy's Varsity rowing team.
Assists, ground balls and take-aways are as important to me as scoring goals. The high school and travel teams that I am on are regarded as some of the best in the state of Illinois. More importantly, my experiences in basketball and lacrosse have exposed me to a diverse group of people which has allowed me to build the character, passion, loyalty and determination that I work to apply to all that I do. I am applying those skills to community service work that I do to coach and counsel kids in underserved neighborhoods.
My objective is to find a college where I can make positive contributions to my teammates and the community while developing as a person. I really want to be a student-athlete at the collegiate level. I plan to be part of the 4th generation of my family to be a collegiate student-athlete.
