I have always been athletic but lacrosse was the one sport that really clicked for me. I began playing the sport in 5th grade but was forced to take a couple of years off when my family moved to a small community in Iowa where lacrosse wasn’t available. However, I taught my new friends the sport because I loved the game so much. After two years my family relocated again, this time to a community that which did have a lacrosse club team so I was back in business.
The highlights of my high school lacrosse career so far have been making it to the playoffs and being named all-state honorable mention last year. I grew the most as a student-athlete my sophomore year when our team didn’t win a single game. That experience helped me grow as a person and led me to refocus not only my own efforts on becoming a solid FO/MD but also with helping my teammates hone their lacrosse skills. Since that dreadful sophomore season, I have worked tirelessly strengthening my shooting/passing skills, my hand speed and face-off technique, and my footwork/speed. I also worked endless hours with my coaches and teammates to be the best team we could possibly be. I pride myself in being not only a strong team player but also a role model and mentor to the younger players. I’ve held practices in the off season (with the blessing of my coach) to continue to work with my teammates in order for our team to be at its best. It’s kind of funny, but having a losing season ended up being the best thing for me. The following season our team did much better - I earned my third varsity letter and had a 67.7 faceoff win percentage. I work hard during the season and just as hard during the off season. I’m the first to get to the field and the last one to leave. My faceoff percentage for the spring 2018 season was 95% I look forward to having a strong final high school season in the spring.
My plan is to earn a business degree and would love to someday work on Wall Street. Finance and investments fascinate me. I have a strong desire to learn all there is to know about these fields and to be successful. I would love to attend a college that is in or near a big city. As an athlete and as a student I am fully aware of my strengths and my weaknesses and I pay close attention to both. I plan on attending a college where I can push myself in the classroom and on the field. I am looking forward to beginning my college career and to attaining my personal goals of becoming the best lacrosse player I can possibly be and learning how to be a successful stockbroker.
