Personal Statement

When thinking about myself, the three words that best describe me would be worrying, optimistic, and committed. In relation to the way I act on a normal basis, I am perceived as a happy and optimistic person by friends, family, and even other students that I don't know. Many individuals have always told me that I look naturally happy, and not only that, that I am happy overall and with this certain characteristic, I am and have continued to be positive. As I've been told by these people, I have concluded that this is indeed true because it is evident that I feel this way and I normally am optimistic in regards to most situations. Worrying would also be a characteristic in which I am represented, as a result of the smallest things that constantly concern me such as grades. When I stress, it regularly relates to school, and as this occurs, I have been able to learn how to manage my time, school, and even sports. Although worrying is a feeling that is normal towards me, it has allowed me to accomplish certain goals that are necessary to succeed, ultimately leading to me breaking barriers. The last word that distinguishes myself from others reveals me to be committed. Considering that I have always managed to ensure that I achieve important objectives with certain values. This appears traditional to my beliefs, because once I have come to a realization that something needs to be done, I make sure I'm able to produce adequate results.  In relations to athletics, one of the life impacting events that have required me to overcome adversity would relate to the start of my lacrosse career during my freshman year tryouts. This tryout had really provided a big significance for me as I was the worst one that had attempted to make the team, and I say this because I was one of the only people that didn't have past knowledge or experience on the sport. I would constantly be yelled at by the coach for my mistakes and my anxiety grew further as I had used up a lot of money just to tryout for this team. Although everyone had told me that no one gets kicked out the team, that didn't seem impossible for my case because it felt like I had no chance what so ever. The three days that I had attended the tryouts were nearly one of the worse school days of my experience in high school due to my lack of conditioning and everything adding up behind that. But over the years I had learned to push myself to become better and tackle difficult challenges such as these; and all it took was practicing time and time again. As I almost threw up in every practice I had went to freshmen year, it had allowed me to always keep moving forward no matter what circumstance I was in. Since I was introduced to the sport, I have been interested in attending a college where there is a possibility in me playing lacrosse and completing the cyber security/ cyber forensics major. However, because I have grown to love the sport, I appreciate how entertaining it has been through my high school years. Being in shape has allowed me to be mentally and physically healthy and I wish to take that into college as well.
