Personal Statement

I am a tall athletic goalie. I have very good fundamentals with a great first step. I play a small arc and use my size (6’ 4” 200 lbs.) to my advantage in the crease.  I am patient and hold my position in the crease.  I make big saves at the right time. I have a high lacrosse IQ and I am the quarterback on the field. I anticipate what is going to happen in front of me and make the right defensive calls.  I clear the ball well and start the fast break. My goalie coach, Tillman Johnson, has been the major influence on how I play my position. I’ve learned Tillman’s playing style and, with his advice, adapted it to work for me as a big goalie.

In the classroom, I am a very good writer and a solid mathematician.  I work hard and prepare for participation in all my classes.

One of my outside interests is music production.  I enjoy the creativity of making my own music. I blend many different genres to create my unique sound.  I also play the drums.

I am a gym rat.  I continue to improve my physical fitness and footwork. I am committed to be the best I can be.

I always find time to help others and be a good role model. I’ve volunteered with my local United Way chapter on fundraising events and with blood drives for the Red Cross.  I most enjoy helping younger lacrosse players learn how to play the game the right way.

At the age of 13, I had to over-come adversity and beat the odds.  I was forced to spend 2 years out of lacrosse, and all the sports I enjoy, recovering from Osteo-Chondritis Dissecans in both my knees. I spent almost a year on crutches & in knee braces and another year rebuilding strength.  The doctors told me that I would never play lacrosse again, but I was determined to prove them wrong.  I worked very hard in the pool to build strength and learn how to walk again.  I was fortunate to make a full recovery. This experience taught me several important life lessons.  First, through hard work and belief in myself, I can achieve anything I put my mind to. Second, I learned how lucky I was compared to other patients, especially veterans, who were dealing with the loss of limbs.  I learned how to support and motivate others through the tough times.  I believe this challenging experience has made me a better person and lacrosse goalie.

The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
