Personal Statement
Even though college is still three years away, I have thought long and hard about my goals for my future. I know for certain that I would like to make it into a Division 1 college lacrosse team, hopefully playing by my sophomore year. I would like to continue the academic achievment I have worked for in high school. For the rest of my high school career, I plan on taking the honors and AP classes that are available to me, while maintaining a high GPA, for I aspire to enter the medical field. On and off the field, I see myself as a dedicated, focused, and positive individual that will do anything in support of the team. I pride myself on being a coachable player and taking criticism well. I would bring my leadership skills to any team that I play for, both through personally scoring and setting up my teammates. I work to be a part of the team, not just pad my own stats. Although I will take any opportunity to score that presents itself, I frequently look to pass before I shoot. Like one of my coaches once said, "If you have a good shot, you will have a better pass." My passion for lacrosse extends outside the field and the season. I have spent long hours outside of practice or workouts, in all months, hitting the wall, or dodging on invisible defensemen time after time. Along with that, I look at myself as a student of the game. Many times I have found myself learning from the countless college games that I have watched, and incorporating those lessons into my own game. I think my most recent season of lacrosse speaks to my commitment to the sport and my sportsmanship. This season, I was a freshman starting for the varsity team. During my fifth game, I suffered a distal radius fracture. Even through this time of adversity, I continued to do what I could for the team. I went to all of our practices, and supported all of my teammates in any way I could. Overall, I am a motivated individual, that is commited to the sport of lacrosse, and will strive to be the best that I can.
