Personal Statement
I have been playing lacrosse for six years with my school, Spring Lake. I also have been playing for a traveling club in the summer and fall for the past 5 years. In the fall of 2019, I participated in tryouts for a regional traveling club and after making that team, I was invited to tryout for the State team. I am now playing for True Michigan state team. I am a versatile lacrosse player and my primary position is midfielder. I played goalie for two years and I have also played all the other positions. I believe I can offer your team a well-rounded athlete who understands the game and strategy. Through this understanding, I can be a leader for the team and provide on-field assistance with player placement. From eighth grade to freshman year I have made the jump to put me apart from the average player. Freshman year even though I was one of the younger players on the team, I grew to become more of a leader on the field both verbally and by example. About three quarters way through my freshman year I had broke my wrist and had to sit out for the rest of the season. We had been an undefeated team until then, but when this happened I had the opportunity to become a leader for the team off the field by helping coach and cheer on the team which I believe helped me grow as a player and a person in life. I have a genuine love for sports which is why I have played soccer, basketball, hockey, and football. Through all of these sports I grasped on to the game strategy quickly and was able to excel in my position to the point where I was placed on the first string.
In academics, I had always been a good student (GPA 3.3 or higher) through middle school. When I entered high school, I struggled with classes and my GPA suffered through freshman year. This year, I have increased my GPA through organization of my academic life and preparing myself every morning to tackle my classes and excel. Outside of school and sports, I like to help people younger than me in learning sports and being a friend. I have participated in two mission trips with my church where we visited poor communities. I became inspired when I was able to talk with younger children, play sports with them, and get a smile on their faces. I think I can be a valuable asset to your team through my leadership skills and understanding of the game strategy.
