Personal Statement
I started playing lacrosse in 5th grade, and I have always had a passion for the sport and a drive to play after high school. This sport has allowed me to grow in aspects such as teamwork, dedication, and responsibility, as well as pushed me to strengthen myself as an athlete. I have done my best to give back to the sport of lacrosse as well. I have lived in several places, such as Arkansas and Mississippi, where the lacrosse community is small and underdeveloped. Throughout those years, I have worked to grow the game by introducing lacrosse to as many of my peers as possible. As I have developed as a goalie and learned to lead the defense from that position, I have learned to strive for excellence in leadership, both on and off the field. As a junior, I was selected as a Varsity Team Captain of my high school team. This gave me the opportunity to push my teammates to the best of their abilities, as well as provide guidance and motivation. I also serve in other leadership positions outside of lacrosse, such as Section Leader and later Drum Major in band and as an appointed officer on the Ocean Springs Mayor's Youth Council. These positions allow me to grow my leadership skills that have enhanced my ability to perform as a lacrosse goalie.
