Personal Statement
My name is Jackson Effertz and I am 6'0", 170 lb. Lacrosse Midfielder in Kansas City, Missouri, originally from Los Angeles, CA. I have been playing lacrosse since 6th Grade but really fell in love with the sport when I reached the high school level. I was called up from JV to Varsity in the middle of my Sophomore year and helped the team get to the City Championship, for the 2nd year in a row. I am a highly motivated and focused athlete and work daily on improving my skills. I’ve experienced the quickest growth and progress when I started to incorporate weight-lifting, running and a food plan into my daily training sessions. My coaches tell me that some of my strongest assets are that I am a great listener and don’t take offense to critical feedback. If I am told I need to change something, I change it. I’m a relentless hard-worker and have positive attitude. I’m a versatile player and very strong on both hands. I can play Attack as well, but was moved to Midfield because of my speed. For the past two years, I have coached summer youth lacrosse camps at Rockhurst High School and have loved sharing my passion with younger like-minded kids. In the off season, I play box lacrosse to improve my stick skills and also shoot on goalies who train with Team Tendy Goalie Academy.
Academically, I am solid student with a 3.8 GPA and I enjoy school very much. Aside from my family, I prioritize two things in my life: my schoolwork and my lacrosse work. My dream is to play lacrosse in college. My mom played lacrosse for Loyola Marymount University and has told me how pivotal of an experience it was for her. I can’t wait to extend my athletic life into college! Lacrosse is my passion and I dream about it everyday.
