I’m Daniel Schmitz from Henrietta, NY. My lacrosse career began in 2nd grade where I quickly found my way into “the pipes.” While other kids shied away from this position, I could not get enough of it. I have always felt responsible to my teammates with my role and enjoy that weight I place on my shoulders. I also have tremendous respect for my teammates in the field. They often have far more physical contact and log many more miles during a game. When our roles blend together, as they should, we have a great outcome. Needless to say, I love playing goalie, the game of lacrosse, and the amazing bonds I’ve formed over the years with teammates, competitors and coaches.
As I begin to think about the transition towards college, I am certain that I want lacrosse to be a part of those years. I know this will require even more commitment and dedication but I’m up for the challenge. So far, I’ve been able to maintain a 4.0 high school average and play 3 sports including varsity lacrosse since my freshman year. Eventually, when I am no longer playing the game, I hope to be able to give back to the youth lacrosse world that contributed so much to my love for the game. Even now I enjoy mentoring and being a referee with the younger teams in the area.
I appreciate your time and consideration as we explore if there may be a fit.
