Being presented with opportunities, and taking advantage of those opportunities, can make all the difference in our lives. As a kid living in small-town Charlotte, TN, I didn't know much about college, nor did I have anyone pushing me to consider my education more than what was required. I had an opportunity to move in with my dad and stepmom here in NY when I was 11, and if I hadn’t, then I probably wouldn't have thought that the reality of going to college was actually real, either. I am being given the chance to actually go to college and earn a future for myself.
Being somewhat adventurous, I like to try new things that I’ve never thought of doing. Whether it was leaving Tennessee or trying lacrosse for the first time, I am open-minded and like to give new opportunities a chance. I am looking for an opportunity in a college that would give me the best chance for academic and professional success.
I would be a good asset to your team because I am a student-athlete who accepts feedback and tries to improve upon weaknesses. I am a leader on and off the field. I feel that I would make a good candidate for your college and your team because I persevere when I have tried and failed and I will keep trying until my task is finished correctly and I am successful. One day during football practice, I messed up a route and my coach yelled at me and pulled me from the field. Instead of being mad about running the route incorrectly and giving up, I asked my coach the exact yardage I had to run and when I was supposed to cut. When I got my next rep, my coach called the same play just for me and I ran it as I was instructed, scoring on the play. I was pleased that I didn't get mad at my coach for yelling at me, and understood that he wanted me to be the best I could and executed the plan. I am always going all out during practice so I can do the same during games. This attitude translates over to the classroom, too. I had started out slowly since moving to NY after the 6th grade, but my grades are continuing to improve as I am figuring out what it takes to be successful in the classroom, as well as on the athletic field.
Although I am interested in pursuing a career in Physical Therapy or Business Administration, my most wanted goal is to be a MLL or NFL player, which isn't easy or practical, but I may accomplish it with hard work and perseverance. All things can become possible because all things are possible.
