MATTHEW CLEVENGER '21 Recruiting Profile

I've been playing lacrosse for 7 years and was the leading scorer from U11 to U15 at midfield and attack each year until switching to LSM at the advice coach Mark Goldsmith (NC Lacrosse Hall of Fame coach) .  Footwork, speed to ground balls, and getting separation on clears and in transition are my trademarks.  Frustrating opponents with smart positioning and aggressive defense is a strength.  I love playing LSM because it requires a lot of versatility, and the D-pole is a significant advantage for me all around.  I like scoring, assisting my teammates to score even more, and a forced turn over to fast break the best! 

My high school team is in the top 10 4-A teams in North Carolina every year (final 4 in 2018) and has produced several D1 LSMs over the past few years, most recently a Syracuse commit who is a Junior this year.

This year, I was the 3rd in points on the team (playing LSM) with 6 goals and 5 assists.   I am working with a professional sports trainer 2-3 times per week to continue to improve my speed, strength, and agility as well as playing with P2L Select 2021 which is coached by the High Point University coaches Kenny Broschart and Jon Torpey and Triad Elite 2021 Gold Team coached by Ira Vanterpool and Coach Babb.  

I have a 3.83 GPA with mostly Honors courses and strong work ethic.  I'm working hard to study and play at a high college level one day.
