Personal Statement
I have always enjoyed being active and participating in different sports. Some of the sports I have played are baseball, cross country in Middle School, and play basketball. I started playing lacrosse in fourth grade when I wanted to try something new. I help coach my younger brother’s lacrosse team with my dad to stay connected to the lacrosse community. During the fall I volunteer to teach younger kids how to play lacrosse and help them become better players. I have always loved the lacrosse community and always try to help grow it. My collegiate goals are to be able to play in college somewhere where I can have an impact on the field. I will continue to pursue my love for the game of lacrosse while receiving a higher education. My family values education as I come from a long line of teachers. Growing up, education and sports were important. Aside from family time, we were taught that sports teach you how to collaborate and get along with others, how to be flexible, and that you must always be setting and changing your goals.
I am the hardest worker you will ever meet. I may not be the biggest, strongest, or fastest player, but I have grit and I will not give up until I have achieved my goals and showcased my ability to be a strong team player and be a presence on the field. My seventh-grade year, I didn’t make the A-team. I was determined to earn my spot on that team the following year. So instead of giving up and just accepting the team I was on, during the summer when everyone was in bed sleeping, I would wake up before sunrise so that I could go and do my workout before anyone woke up. I would be outside shooting and dodging and making my own drills and workouts for hours. I made that A team the following year and I have kept that momentum going as I continue to learn and work hard to be the best I can be in lacrosse. I know that there is always room to grow. I always look for advice and direction from my parents and my coaches.
